The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches us:
Baptism, the Eucharist, and the sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the “sacraments of Christian initiation,” whose unity must be safeguarded. It must be explained to the faithful that the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. For “by the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.”

All students entering the Confirmation Program must pass a doctrinal faith exam prior to classes beginning.

Our Confirmation Program typically begins in grade 9. Our program consists of 6 courses, which are normally taken over 2 years. Each year consists of 3 semesters. The students will rotate through classes as scheduled by the Director of the Confirmation Program. Since classes only meet once per month from September thru May, regular attendace is mandatory. If a student misses more than 1 class of any session per year, the entire session (3 classes) must be made up again.

1st year Confirmation classes meet on the third Tuesday of the month, from 7 PM to 8:30 PM. 2nd year Confirmation classes meet on the fourth Tuesday of the month, from 7 PM to 8:30 PM.

Special accomodations are made for students attending Catholic high schools. Please contact the Director of the Confirmation Program for more information.

In addition, students who have sucessfully completed the requirements for Confrimation must attend a Confirmation retreat scheduled sometime in early Fall. Only when a student has completed all requirements for Confirmation will they be scheduled to receive the Sacrament. Confirmation typically takes place here at St. Augustine in late October/early November time frame.
